Bill’s mid-season update

Chairman Bill Quinn has thanked Roughyeds fans for their "fantastic" support through the first half of 2025, in a mid-season update to supporters on the latest episode of The Boundary Line.

Quinn has reiterated that the club will never stop strengthening on or off the field and hopes that every Oldham fan can rally behind the club for a strong second half of the season in the Betfred Championship.

"From myself and everyone at the club a huge thank you to the fans for your support so far this year," said Quinn.

It would be great for that support to go up through the second part of the season, to show the RFL that we have got the support.

This club is a very forward-thinking and progressive club and that is down purely to the people who are working here, from the media team to the office team. Everybody does their best and wants their best for the club and when you have that in mind then you know you are going to be successful and that you are going to move forward."

In reflecting on the season so far, Quinn praised the work done by Sean Long and the Roughyeds coaching staff, with Oldham currently in third position ahead of the trip to face leaders Toulouse in France on June 21st.

"We came up as champions and looked at where we needed to be in the Championship with such a big gulf in divisions and it is so competitive. We strengthened and brought players in but got a huge amount of injuries all at the same time.

We then had the semi-final defeat and I was absolutely gutted for the town and our fans. I really wanted this for them and felt they deserved it. It hurt a lot. We assessed again and I do not like being near anything at the bottom so we wanted to recruit a team capable of challenging at the top and have brought more players in recently.

We won't take a backward step, we will keep going and keep pushing forward and we want to make sure that come the end of the season we are up there challenging at the top."

Quinn also confirmed a restructure in the club office, which has seen Head of Operations and Commercial David Bottomley become the main point of contact for all business and operational matters, allowing managing director Mike Ford to focus more of his time and efforts on the rugby side of the club.

"We are really moving forwards as a club, David has taken a lot of pressure off me and allowed Mike to move more into a Director of Rugby role and really show his expertise in that field and work closely with Sean and the players," said Quinn.

We have players contacting the club now and wanting to come and it is fantastic to think where we were 12-18 months ago to where we are now.

There is a real feel-good factor and excitement for the second half of the season - and you never know we might have one or two more players to come in as well! The excitement is building."
