Oldham are delighted to have secured the services of second-rower Brad Day on a deal until the end of the season.

Day had signed with Halifax only last month and went on to make three appearances for the club, before his time there was abruptly cut short due to the Panthers’ liquidation.

“It has been a funny old month,” he said. “What happened at Halifax obviously wasn’t the best situation, but I am glad to get something sorted pretty quick.

I am pretty sure I will get on well with these boys, and I can’t wait to get ripped in.

I like to think I am hard working, I put all my effort out on the field and I run a pretty good line as well.

I know a few of the lads so I already have an understanding of how we play and I am hoping to get on the scoreboard pretty quick.”

The 31-year-old is a highly experienced Championship forward, with well over 200 appearances in the second-tier.

The 2025 1895 Cup finalist arrives at Oldham with a good try-scoring record, having crossed the line on 84 occasions across his career which began at Castleford Tigers back in 2014.

Before his switch to Halifax, the Yorkshireman had spent three seasons at Featherstone and he did not miss a game for Rovers throughout the 2025 campaign.

“Brad is a real quality player,” said Roughyeds boss Alan Kilshaw.

He has been in the Championship for a number of years now and played in some really good sides.

He offers a bit of punch and strike on an edge and he can also play in the middle, so he is going to add depth to our already strong squad.”

Brad is available for sponsorship for the 2026 season, email david.bottomley@roughyeds.co.uk for more information.
