Match Preview: Oldham vs Hunslet

Oldham are back at Bower Fold this weekend for the first of back-to-back home games, starting with Hunslet this Sunday (3pm kick-off).

Roughyeds returned to winning ways with a narrow 36-30 win over Sheffield last weekend following Challenge Cup disappointment in the south of France, and Oldham could strengthen their spot in the play-offs with a win on Sunday.

Should Oldham taste victory, it would be their fifth straight win over the South Leeds side.

Team News

Alan Kilshaw has named a similar squad to the side which was announced ahead of last Saturday's game against Sheffield.

Tom McKinney has returned to Warrington and will feature for their reserves side this weekend.

With Ewan Moore still showing concussion symptoms he misses the Hunslet clash, while everybody else barring Iain Thornley is available for selection.

Head coach Alan Kilshaw spoke to Roughyeds TV, ahead of the Sunday's game here.

Squad in full: 1. Jack Walker, 2. Kieran Dixon, 3. Ben O'Keefe, 4. Ben Davies, 5. Jake Bibby, 6. Morgan Smith, 7. Riley Dean, 9. Matty Wildie, 10. Owen Farnworth, 11. Matty Ashurst, 12. Ryan Lannon, 13. Adam Milner, 14. Cole Geyer, 15. Ted Chapelhow, 18. Jaron Purcell, 21. Tom Nisbet, 23. Josh Drinkwater, 24. Marcus Geener, 26. Brad Day, 27. Bayley Liu.

The Opposition

Hunslet have won only once so far this campaign, but across their five defeats, they have lost by an average of fewer than eight points, suggesting Roughyeds will not have it all their own way.

Ex-Oldham winger Mo Agoro is Hunslet's current top try scorer, having crossed the line on five occasions this year, but the Jamaican international has not featured for the Parksiders since February.

Hunslet have brought in former Hull FC man Bureta Faraimo, who grabbed five tries on debut against Rochdale but has failed to score in his following four games.

They ultimately fell just short against Barrow last weekend, losing 29-24 despite a spirited second-half fightback that saw them score four tries.

Widnes, who got the better of Oldham at Bower Fold, were also made to work for their win, with Hunslet leading 18-14 at half-time before the Vikings came back to win 32-26.
