Oldham are looking to return to winning ways when they face Sheffield Eagles at the Steel City Stadium this Saturday (3pm kick-off).
Having been knocked out of the Challenge Cup, attention returns to the Betfred Championship where Alan Kilshaw's men will be looking to inflict a first defeat of the season on the Eagles.
Oldham have won their last two against the South Yorkshire side, the most recent trip to Sheffield ending in dramatic fashion as Kieran Dixon sealed the victory, touching down despite a broken arm after latching onto a huge kick from Drinkwater.
Team News
Alan Kilshaw has made three changes to the squad with Brad Day, Bayley Liu and Tom McKinney in contention to start on Saturday.
Brad Day and Bayley Liu are back available, having been cup-tied for last weekend's trip to Perpignan.
Both Liu and McKinney, if named on the teamsheet, would make their Roughyeds debuts against the unbeaten Sheffield.
Warrington prop McKinney, brought in on loan this week, would be following in his father Chris' footsteps who started his career at Oldham in 1995 and made 27 appearances for the club.
Ewan Moore is ruled out of this round, having failed a head injury assessment during the Catalans defeat.
Also dropping out of the squad is Jack Ormondroyd, having secured a loan deal with Bradford until the end of the season. Sam Littler also misses the trip to South Yorkshire.
Squad in full: 1. Jack Walker, 2. Kieran Dixon, 3. Ben O’Keefe, 4. Ben Davies, 5. Jake Bibby, 6. Morgan Smith, 7. Riley Dean, 9. Matty Wildie, 10. Owen Farnworth, 11. Matty Ashurst, 12. Ryan Lannon, 13. Adam Milner, 14. Cole Geyer, 15. Ted Chapelhow, 18. Jaron Purcell, 21. Tom Nisbet, 23. Josh Drinkwater, 24. Marcus Geener, 26. Brad Day, 27. Bayley Liu, 28. Tom McKinney.
The Opposition
Sheffield have won their opening four games in the Championship and are fifth in the table thus far.
Head coach Craig Lingard bolstered his squad for the 2026 campaign, signing the experienced Jordan Lilley and Kieran Gill from Bradford Bulls, as the Eagles bid to improve on 2025's 11th placed finish.
Former Roughyeds centre Gill is in fine form for Sheffield, having grabbed five tries in six appearances since his move to South Yorkshire.
In earning their four victories this year, the Eagles have overcome Whitehaven, Barrow, Hunslet and Rochdale.
