Mason in on loan

21/08/2026

Alan Kilshaw has further strengthened his squad with the addition of Wigan Warriors forward Lukas Mason who has joined on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old returns to Oldham having made his Roughyeds debut on dual-registration last season.

Mason’s signing has been completed ahead of today’s deadline, although he will not feature for Oldham this weekend.

As part of the arrangement, similar to the one in place with loan signing Tom McKinney, Mason will remain eligible to feature for the Warriors reserves while also being available to Oldham should his services be required.

Roughyeds boss Alan Kilshaw said:

“It is important that we had enough depth to get us through until the end of the season – and we’ve got that now.

With the players that we have brought in and the ones we have on loan, we are in a good place.

With Lazarus going, we have brought in Noah and Lukas. We can do some rotation over the next couple of weeks.

We have played a lot of games, with the two cups… it has been nine months of relentless games through all different weathers.

We would like to thank Wigan for their assistance in getting this deal over the line and I am looking forward to seeing Lukas in an Oldham shirt.”

Mason has already gained plenty of Championship experience, with loan spells at Salford, Halifax, Rochdale and London.

The son of former Huddersfield prop Keith Mason, Lukas progressed through Wigan’s junior ranks before making his first-team debut against Hull KR in May.

Last month, he came off the bench in Wigan’s victory over St Helens before starting at second row in their win against Warrington.
