Head of Operations and Commercial David Bottomley has given a mid-season update to fans and says the Roughyeds' progress through 2025 so far underlines the huge commercial potential of Oldham RLFC.
Bottomley and chairman Bill Quinn join Roughyeds Head of Media George Riley on a new episode of The Boundary Line to provide a detailed update to fans on progress off the field.
"The Featherstone semi-final, and the home match the week after against Halifax showed to me commercially that we have a town where people want to support the club and get involved," said Bottomley, who discusses commercial partnerships at the club and highlights exciting upcoming sponsorship opportunities for businesses to align with the Roughyeds.
"We are going to be offering a portal as part of our Business Club service that will allow us to talk to you in more detail but more importantly it will allow our members to talk to other members in the community and we think that will give us a head-start over other business clubs," said Bottomley.
Oldham is a town that has a lot of hidden businesses. We have some absolutely fantastic major sponsors, but I know that the major sponsors would agree that we need more and more of their calibre in order to get this club to where it wants to be, which is Super League. We have to build off the field to raise our profile and raise our income.
Our hospitality numbers against Halifax were nearly as big as the semi-final against Featherstone. That for me makes me think that if we can get 2000 people the following week then that bodes well for the club."
Bottomley also revealed that exciting sponsorship opportunities remain for the rest of the 2025 campaign.
"We have five home games of the regular season remaining and then the playoffs and we have opportunities for match sponsors, ball sponsors and player of the match sponsors" he said.
So any businesses of Oldham - please get in touch with either myself or Michelle Wood. It is a fantastic way to entertain customers or even friends."
Bottomley also shares his own impressions of his first three months in the role since arriving at the club.
"I feel a great challenge to bring in income and support the club so that we can build the best squad possible, but also to build our team off the pitch as well.
We now have a settled team with a great atmosphere between everybody who works for the club, from the media team to the team at the office, to the playing team. Everybody is so friendly and approachable and that has shone through in the whole of what I have been involved in at Oldham so far.
I know the Roughyeds fans can be quite critical but they can also be really supportive and very praise-worthy and they understand the journey we are going through and that the club is transformed from where it was only a few short years ago."
