Oldham have confirmed the release of 13 players at the end of the 2025 season, as squad-building continues for 2026.

Sean Long's men backed up promotion from League 1 with a top-four Championship finish as the club continues to build for an exciting future.

With every squad member playing their part in one of the most successful periods in the Roughyeds' recent history, the club has now confirmed the release of 13 players to take up opportunities elsewhere, while talks continue with a number of players out of contract.

Former New Zealand internal Elijah Taylor confirmed this month that he will be returning home to his family at the conclusion of this season, and leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the club. Head coach Long called Taylor "outstanding and a dream to work with" while chairman Bill Quinn added Taylor was a "huge part of our season so far".

Also departing are fellow forwards Brad Gallagher, Pat Moran, Jay Chapelhow, Ben Forster and Matty Foster.

Gallagher enjoyed an impressive 2024 campaign in Oldham's title-winning season but struggled to break back into the team after a long-term injury this year.
Moran has played an integral role in the Roughyeds' rise, while Chapelhow has been a popular and consistent performer in the Oldham pack.
Foster impressed during his short-term move from Salford, while Forster made key contributions throughout the campaign after his arrival from Rochdale.

Also leaving the club are flying winger Mo Agoro, and fellow outside backs Jack Johnson, Cian Tyrer, Jumah Sambou, Matthieu Pons and hookers Eloi Pelissier and Bailey Aldridge.

Agoro became a crowd favourite at Boundary Park with his powerful tries but injury disrupted his 2025 campaign.
Johnson provided strong performances across a number of positions, while Sambou's eye-catching displays secured a Super League move to Hull KR.
Tyrer was unable to tie down a regular spot in the team after a headline-making 2024 that saw him finish top try scorer, while French pair Pons and Pelissier boosted the squad after their mid-season arrivals from France.
Aldridge was voted the Fans' Player of the Year in 2024 but struggled for gametime this year.

"We thank all of these players for their efforts and commitment in the Oldham shirt during two very successful seasons for the club and wish each and every one of them the best of luck for the future," said managing director Mike Ford.

All of the players leave with a huge thank you from the club, with both Ford and Quinn expressing their gratitude to every squad member during a stunning rise from League 1 to the top end of the Championship, in one of the most exciting periods in the club's history.
