Oldham are back at Boundary Park this Sunday for a huge test against a London Broncos side who competed in Super League last year, as Sean Long's men bid to get back on the upward curve.
Round 4 of the Betfred Championship offers up a fierce test against a proven side of Super League pedigree, as Roughyeds look to bounce back from defeats on the road to Hull KR and Barrow.
Oldham took huge positives from last Friday night's Challenge Cup exit in Hull and will look to build on the exciting early season form that brought big wins against the Raiders, York and Rochdale.
It has been another big week for the club, with half-backs Danny Craven and Riley Dean joining George on this week's new episode of The Boundary Line to reflect on Hull KR and build up to London, while we are also at the exciting launch of SportsTown - an ambitious new multi-million pound sports, education, health and wellbeing campus in Oldham.
Team News
Oldham have brought in two youngsters from Wigan on dual-registration, with both Nathan Lowe and Josh Cartwright named in the squad for this weekend.
Centres Iain Thornley and Jumah Sambou both miss out, Thornley with the knock he picked up last week at Hull KR, while Sambou serves the first of a seven-match suspension.
Mo Agoro, Logan Astley and George Hirst remain sidelined, along with Brad Gallagher and Mckenzie Yei, but better news sees the return from injury of captain Jordan Turner for his first appearance of the season.
Squad in full: 2. Kieran Dixon, 3. Jordan Turner, 6. Danny Craven, 7. Riley Dean, 8. Gil Dudson, 9. Matty Wildie, 10. Owen Farnworth, 11. Matty Ashurst, 12. Adam Lawton, 13. Adam Milner, 15. Jay Chapelhow, 16. Pat Moran, 17. Elijah Taylor, 19. Ted Chapelhow, 20. Jack Johnson, 21. Lewis Baxter, 23. Josh Drinkwater, 24. Ben O'Keefe, 31. Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e, Josh Cartwright, Nathan Lowe.
The Opposition
With Oldham coming into this game off two defeats, the Broncos have won their last two, albeit this is their first fixture since March 1st.
London have only played two Championship games so far, opening up the season with a 20-6 defeat at Bradford, but backing that up with an impressive 14-12 win over Featherstone Rovers. There was a surprise early Challenge Cup exit in January against new boys Goole Vikings, but London have looked stronger every week, with their 26-16 1895 Cup win over Dewsbury earlier this month a second win in a row.
They will be well rested having had the last two weeks off, and in Mike Eccles have a very shrewd coach in charge.
This is the first meeting between the two sides since August 2021 - a 30-20 win for London at Bower Fold. For those who like to delve into the history books, London have won the last 13 games against Oldham
