Oldham are pleased to confirm the appointment of Aaron Scholes as the club's new Head of Medical.
Scholes is an experienced physio who will work alongside Catherine Corless and Head of Performance Andrew Dixon to bring professionalism to every area of the club's medical department, as the Roughyeds step up to compete in the 2025 Betfred Championship.
Scholes has a vast 12-year rugby league career boasting nine years at Bradford Bulls, spending last season with York Knights and having worked with Oldham head coach Sean Long previously at Featherstone Rovers. He is also currently working in football with Halifax Town.
Speaking to Roughyeds TV, Scholes revealed his excitement at the opportunity to work with such a professional group.
"I am working very closely with Andrew and have come into help Catherine out who was here last season and we have Ben in too as our new doctor. I am just trying to make a very disciplined medical team, to help the experienced lads, minimize the injuries and keep the boys on the field to push for where we want to be.
I worked very well with Sean at Featherstone and we had some great results. Looking at this Oldham squad it is very, very experienced and some who I have worked with before. They want to push for the top and think we have a squad capable of doing it so we just need to look after them.
The backroom staff working together so closely led by Sean helps to make sure the lads have the best preparation and care. That is all the lads want - to be looked after and to be ready to play the game.
It's been fun so far and interesting meeting all the lads, if a little awkward with twins in the building who I am always getting mixed up!"
Season tickets are selling fast for the Roughyeds' return to the Championship in February, with a range of hospitality options also available.
Fans this year are also able to select their own seat, with all supporters urged to book now to avoid disappointment.
