Oldham captain Jordan Turner wants a shot at Wembley after revealing the powerful family memories that are driving his desire to rebuild the glory days at his hometown club.

The Roughyeds have a home 1895 Cup tie to look forward to but before that is this Sunday's visit of Barrow in the most famous Cup competition of them all, the Betfred Challenge Cup.

Turner experienced Wembley while at Castleford four season ago and joins former winner Gil Dudson on our new episode of the Boundary Line on Roughyeds TV.

"I'll probably never get over my loss at Wembley," Turner tells host George Riley.

As a kid getting to a Challenge Cup final was always my dream. My amateur club Waterhead used to go every year, it was a big family occasion. I thought it had slipped away from me.
My grandad was seriously ill and actually the last big game he ever came to was the 2021 Cup final and we lost. I feel fortunate that he got his dream to see me play at Wembley but the fact that we lost is still painful and I don't think I will ever get over that.

One of the first things I ever learned was that Oldham had never won the Challenge Cup at Wembley It's one of my first rugby league memories. We are a Championship club and we are building, but to go on a Cup run would mean so much to the club and the town.

First of all we have to get past Barrow who were one of our hardest games of last year. They have been formidable in the Championship for a number of years."

In a brand new episode of The Boundary Line in association with Blue Group, Turner joins Dudson to discuss the magic of the Cup and urge fans to get Boundary Park rocking for Sunday's third round home tie against Barrow Raiders - who Roughyeds faced and beat away from home in last season's competition.

"It's where the upsets happen, where the excitement is and where underdog stories are born. That's why people love the Cup and come out and support it," said Dudson, who won at Wembley with Wigan in 2013 and was a beaten finalist with Salford seven years later.

Oldham host Barrow in the Challenge Cup this Sunday at Boundary Park before kicking off the new Championship season at home to York seven days later.

Games are expected to be popular with fans but ticket and hospitality options remain available.
